Facebook Adds Call to Action Buttons to Pages in Cover Photo Area

This is exciting news for Pages! A Call to Action button right on the landing page of their Facebook page, on the Cover Photo!

When your page is opted in you will see the prompt to Create a Call to Action button on your cover photo area, next to the Liked button. From there you get this next screen.  Choose which option you would like and follow the prompts to finish the setup.

Options are:

  • Book Now
  • Contact Us
  • Use App
  • Play Game
  • Shop Now
  • Watch Video

Don’t worry if you change your mind or need to edit, as this is always possible afterwards.  For my Medical Monkeys page I chose the Shop Now button with a link that takes people directly to my Medical Monkeys website.

Facebook Adds Friend-to-Friend Thank You Video Feature

Facebook has added the ability to create a somewhat personal Thank You video from you to any of your Friends.  The feature selects pictures and word-only posts for you to choose from, and then randomly places these selections into it’s self-generated video.  This video feature is a very cool idea, and it has added music and captions spread thru-out.  Taking it one step further I would love to see an Edit function so users can move the pictures to certain sections, add other photos not in the selections, and edit the captions to make it even more personable.

The feature does not allow sharing away from the personal page, but here are some screen shots from the one I did for my brother this morning.

Mission Ferris Bueller Featured on WCCO (CBS) – Accomplish Minnesota

We were thrilled when we got the call that WCCO wanted to include Mission Ferris Bueller as part of their Accomplish Minnesota series! And we are over the moon happy about how informative and fun the piece is! Have a look, and find out how you can be involved in helping us complete our goal by November 1, filling Military Care Packages to a troops and civilians serving in Afghanistan.

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ or YouTube you have surely heard about my Mission Ferris Bueller Care Package Campaign.  Our goal is to send a huge variety of items (necessities to fun) for 100 Troops and Civilians serving at a base in Afghanistan.  I have a Colonel friend who is stationed there, and these men and women are in his command.

You may ask, why name it Mission Ferris Bueller? It is a tribute to the classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which represents a “break from reality, having fun, surprises, impacting many people in a good way, while appreciating the things and people that mean the most to you.”

We are asking people to contribute with items or cash to purchase items on our Wish List. One of our very generous contributors is Andrew Angell, Founder of Angell Eye Consulting Services.  [Read more…]

LinkedIn Adds Banner Customization

This morning I saw that LinkedIn is now giving customization and branding options for your background banner at the top of your Profile page.  This is a change that was bound to come, following what many of the other Social Media sites have already been doing.  Nice to see LinkedIn offering this feature!

You can choose one of their many designs, but you know my recommendation – make your own, be unique & true to your Brand!  Graphics should be under 4 MB with a size of 1400 x 425 to fit best.  I’ll be working on mine later in the week.  I would love to see what you come up with for yours!
