I had my first engagement with Cristina Fugaru (Copywriter/PR Girl for La Purse) in December of 2010 when I tweeted about my first purchase of scarves from their site. The response was quick and sincere. Not only was I impressed with their website, products and shipping…I could now add Social Networking skills to the list! A few months ago I purchased matching light weight scarves for our twin daughters and their friend (+1 for me!) for their Mom-Non-Prom we went on. I shared pictures with @LaPurse and again had a fun conversation about the scarves and event. They even included some pics in their customer photo album! I frequently see them engaging with fans on both their Twitter account, as well as on their Facebook fan page. 1. How long have you been using Social Networking for your business?
I’ve been a part of the La Purse team for over a year now and when I first started they were already using Social Networking – just not on a regular basis as we do now. It took a couple of months until I became the Social Networking girl, but we’ve been constantly using it ever since.
2. Is your business using Facebook &/or Twitter?
Both. La Purse has its own official fan page on Facebook and can also be found on Twitter at @LaPurse.
3. Facebook vs Twitter – do you like one better? If yes, why?
Right now, I love both the same. But, to be honest, if you would have asked me six months ago I would have probably said Facebook. I used to be a huge Facebook fan, but in time Twitter has grown on me and, like I said, now I’m a big fan of both.
I like Facebook because it’s personal, allowing users to interact more and to get to know themselves better. Also, you can take your time before making a comment or answering a question. Twitter, on the other hand, is where things get crazy, in a good way. I’m surrounded by over one thousand amazing people, getting and giving instant replies and sharing instant information.
They’re both great places for Social Networking and I recommend them both.
4. Do you post daily?
Yes, except weekends. Of course, if we have a giveaway/contest or important announcements to make, I’m posting daily.
5. What is your favorite thing about Social Networking?
Social Networking is great for a multitude of reasons. My favorite: not only do I get to keep fans and followers updated with the latest La Purse news and events, but I also get useful information from every single user I interact with.
6. What do you think is the biggest benefit of Social Networking?
Making friends. As cheeky as that sounds it’s true. There is no denying that we use Social Networking to promote the brand and keep the interest alive, but we have also made great friends. It never stops to amaze me how helpful and wonderful our fans and followers have been from the beginning.
7. How do you measure Social Networking, and explain.
ROR – Return on Relationship, no doubt about it. Engaging with almost 700 Facebook fans and +1000 Twitter followers on a daily basis is incredible. Seeing them reply to tweets and posts, giving feedback and sharing the news with their fans/followers is so rewarding and always makes me feel great as well as the rest of the team.
8. What is the best moment you’ve had on a Social Networking site?
We had several great moments. If we were to pick one, we’d say it was wonderful to be able to be a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and donate some of our pink scarves to this cause. Along with that, we’ve also been able to participate in numerous giveaways and sponsor great causes, all thanks to Social Networking.
9. What is your best piece of advice to other businesses about Social Networking?
To be themselves. Be natural, funny and caring. Don’t hesitate to share, like and retweet. Those little things will get you a long way.
