The Nanny Nine: Christopher Hopkins, The Makeover Guy

Christopher Hopkins - the makeover guy

Christopher Hopkins has the kind of personality that instantly makes you feel better just from his smile and laughter.  He is an energetic, upbeat guy, with a great sense of humor!  At the same time he’s also very honest with his clients.  It’s part of what makes him so popular as The Makeover Guy.  His mission is to help people realize their ultimate image…thru hair, makeup and wardrobe.  He does this thru his book Staging Your Comeback, television and events, and hands-on at ReVamp! salonspa in Minneapolis, where Christopher is Founder and Co-Owner.

While this isn’t the career Christopher envisioned for himself, [Read more…]

The Nanny Nine: Standard Heating & Air Conditioning

Standard Heating & Air Conditioning

One of the things I love about my business, and the Social Networking I do, is the people and companies I have the privilege of meeting.  Sometimes it’s even how I meet them that makes the story even more fascinating.  For example, how I met Santiago Strasser (@santistrasser), Marketing Manager for Standard Heating & Air Conditioning.

We were finally heading into some warmer Spring weather a few weeks ago, and decided to turn the AC on in our house.  We noticed after a few hours that something wasn’t right, and after an inspection by a different heating and air company, it was determined our AC needed repair or replacement.  Due diligence was done, and appointments were set, to accommodate my husband and myself both being here.  This worked into the schedules for two companies, but not the third, Standard Heating and Air Conditioning.  The morning of the other two appointments I did an early Tweet simply stating how “bummed I was that @StandardHeating could not get out before the next week.”  The weather people were now predicting 90’s that following week.

A couple of hours later, I had a first happen to me with regard to Social Networking… [Read more…]

Raising Money for a NonProfit: Salvation Army North and Give to the Max Day

On Thursday, November 15 I was part of a Social Media Team at The Salvation Army North, for Give to the Max Day in Minnesota.  For two hours in the very early morning hours, we Facebooked, Tweeted, and emailed people in our efforts to raise donations for the day.  It was a success!  They had a significant increase from the funds raised the previous year.  It was also a success in that we reached people they might not have otherwise reached…all due to the power and possibilities of Social Media.

The Salvation Army North did a wonderful job with preparation for the morning’s event.  This began with a brilliant theme and logo to match – Bacon, Eggs and Hashtags!

The Nanny Nine: General Mills

I recently attended a local Social Media event, and sat in on Kevin Hunt’s presentation.  I’ve been a long time user of General Mills brands, and was very curious about their Social Media Manager, and how the brand was utilizing the various Social Media venues.  By the end of his presentation I was very happy with what I had seen and heard, and I also could tell Kevin is very passionate about what he does.
